STOP THE FLOW jhimm, written 1996 Fully automatic blue bottle life container don't leave me in the sun. Sawed-off slide show raisins and prunes stop smiling like a gun. Star struck swimmers of airborne seas are now my only friends. Full metal sports-coat fools and queens seen only through a sunspot lens. Stop the flow {x4} Inspiration flows like salt, on a wound Don't kiss me until I'm cured Separation creeps like ants, on a leaf Sleeping where once it soared. Pressure treated hanging gardens of glass terraces all naturally made. Full on plasticine halogen buzz toys all familiar things seem strayed. Nuclear roadblock falters silver space ships been hanging around out to dry. Cast iron dumpster rot floats purple breezes cinnamon wheat toast on pumpernickel with rye. Stop the flow {x4} Inspiration flows like salt, on a wound Don't kiss me until I'm cured Separation creeps like ants, on a leaf Sleeping where once it soared. Stop the flow {x4

VIRTUALLY GONE jhimm, written 2007 i'm sloughing off the accretions of time troubled by the shape i'm in whittling down this chip on my shoulder opportunities are wearing thin i've betrayed the instrument i was made to be i think it's time to take one on the chin my wings are clipped, my lips are sealed i can't help wondering when my ship is coming in its too late to take it back, but even if we could i'm sure we'd hang ourselves with the same slack, sometimes i think that we should can't see if we're on the right track, trees in front of the wood, blind our eyes to the burning flack, i wonder if it does any good tell me to my face before i fade away i'm just a docetic dreamer, hung out to bleed not trying to grab the glory and power not trying to change your heart or change your mind not trying to be the man of the hour its too late to take it back, but even if we could i'm sure we'd hang ourselves with the same slack, sometimes i think that we should tell me to my face before i fade away why don't you

annabell 03:31
ANNABELL jhimm, written 1998 Darkened windows with powdered blue shades Black circles surrounding white frames I see what you need - I see your spirit Keep your eyes on me - I'll see you get near it Two halves of the moon against a red sky Smooth unbroken landscapes where bright stars lie I hear what you need - I hear your soul Keep listening to me - I'll hear your stories told What do you think of me? Are you afraid to tell? Can you get free of me, my darling Annabell? Ripened berries, violet stained Wine and rubies from your wrists chained I'll say what you need - I'll say when to start You're locked to my will - I'm the lord of your heart What do you think of me? Are you afraid to tell? Can you get free of me, my darling Annabell? What do you want from me? Your face aches to tell. What else can you be but, my darling Annabell?

purpose 04:11
PURPOSE jhimm, written 1994 Johnny was a young boy, lived in the home of the brave. Momma was a kind soul, in a world she could not save. As Johnny grew in years, a wrinkled creased his brow. He wondered how Momma would be, twenty years from now. But I work all day, in the wasteland of fools, sifting through the ruins to try to find the truth. I work all day in the wasteland of this world, and I wonder what will it be? Janey was a good girl, she didn't fool around. Her daddy was a hard man, kept both feet on the ground. As Janey grew in years, a scar grew on her heart. She wondered when he will show, his love to her, somehow. But I work all day, in the wasteland of fools, sifting through the ruins to try to find the truth. I work all day in the wasteland of this world, and I wonder what will it be? Now Johnny and Janey, they're raising two kids, never have no money, don't know how they'll pay the rent. Johnny's got two jobs, so the kids don't see him much, and the TV's on while Janey's on the phone, now the modern world has its hold and it's dragging them down. Bobby is their oldest son, he's grown so big and so tall. His parents try to shield him, from the worst part of this world. As Bobby grows in years, a fear brews in his heart. Living in the real world, will his morals fall apart? But I work all day, in the wasteland of fools, sifting through the ruins to try to find the truth. I work all day in the wasteland of this world, and I wonder what will it be?

about

(lisp) released their LP "if { then } else { do } " in 2008
after spending all of 2006 recording it and all of 2007 mixing it. it represented a Herculean effort to seduce The Muse while on a deadline. when (lisp) formed, jhimm already knew he was moving away from Boston. the timing wasn't always clear, and as it turned out, the group got an extra year to work, and that's when this album was born.

after the release of the album, nearly a year after jhimm had moved to Chicago, there lingered a hope that the group could re-unite in 2009, as jhimm was slated to move yet again -- destination as yet unknown.

in preparation for this possibility, jhimm and Dave sat down on a Sunday in September of 2008 with a plan;
to take "if { then } else { do }" and decompile it into material that could be taken up by a three piece live band, and performed. in the event that jhimm returned, the group would find a drummer. in order to hit the ground running, they wanted to have arrangements of the three piece material ready to go.

so
they sat in the studio and began slicing away the fat.
first, all the covers had to go.
next, all the samples had to go;
it had become clear it was impossible to sell material with uncleared samples.
that killed the three "knee" pieces.
next, all the synthesizers had to go;
even if they wanted a four piece band with a synth player, that artist ought to be free to express themselves with their own parts. and as it stood, the plan was to have a classic "power trio".
finally, all the drum parts had to be reduced down to what could pass for "real" drums. all flagrantly electronic percussion elements were removed.

but something very funny happened when they listened to the results. instead of hearing hollow, stark, empty shells of songs waiting to be re-filled, they found themselves listening to a version of their material
that they had a sneaking suspicion was actually better than the previous release.

by Spring of 2009 jhimm knew he was moving to Houston, not back to New England, and so the dream of the power trio is on "indefinite hiatus" (never say never, jhimm could be back in New England sometime after 2015).

and so, the idea was hatched to make this decompiled material into a proper release of its own."Decompiled" could almost be considered an analog album. in an ideal world, we'd get a studio drummer to re-do all the drum bits, but you'll have to forgive us our budget constraints and just pretend.

we continue to hold out hope that "maybe someday" there will be a (lisp) that sounds like this.

about

(lisp) Boston, Massachusetts

jhimm and dave met when jhimm's former band, Scissorkiss, hired dave as the audio engineer for their final two albums. by the time that SK had to disband, jhimm and dave had already begun discussing a creative endeavor of their own.

after a few fits and starts attempting to include a handful of other musicians, jhimm and dave decided to stick to the power duo approach, and (lisp) was born.
