Johnny was a young boy, lived in the home of the brave.
Momma was a kind soul, in a world she could not save.
As Johnny grew in years, a wrinkled creased his brow.
He wondered how Momma would be, twenty years from now.
But I work all day, in the wasteland of fools,
sifting through the ruins to try to find the truth.
I work all day in the wasteland of this world,
and I wonder what will it be?
Janey was a good girl, she didn't fool around.
Her daddy was a hard man, kept both feet on the ground.
As Janey grew in years, a scar grew on her heart.
She wondered when he will show, his love to her, somehow.
But I work all day, in the wasteland of fools,
sifting through the ruins to try to find the truth.
I work all day in the wasteland of this world,
and I wonder what will it be?
Now Johnny and Janey, they're raising two kids,
never have no money, don't know how they'll pay the rent.
Johnny's got two jobs, so the kids don't see him much,
and the TV's on while Janey's on the phone,
now the modern world has its hold and it's dragging them down.
Bobby is their oldest son, he's grown so big and so tall.
His parents try to shield him, from the worst part of this world.
As Bobby grows in years, a fear brews in his heart.
Living in the real world, will his morals fall apart?
But I work all day, in the wasteland of fools,
sifting through the ruins to try to find the truth.
I work all day in the wasteland of this world,
and I wonder what will it be?
